Hey there friends- how was your week?
Round here it was busy as always.
1. I started trying to get control of my schedule. Ever since I moved I feel like I haven't got my routine back on track, you know? So I made a pact with myself to get organized and get back to scheduling the things I like to do. This week I started getting up EARLY and running with friends one day a week.
Its fun to run around my city in the dark with just my reflective belt and my girls. :)
2. We also started a once-a-week devotional meet-up to read our bible and grow with God as friends. I know some people who have done this and I really like the idea of discussing what I'm reading with friends.
We started with the She Reads Truth follow along. A couple of friends started this blog to help keep each other accountable. They use You Version (and their own created) devotional plans and blog about it. We get a daily email blast with the reading and their thoughts/discussion questions on the scripture. It also has a hashtag, #shereadstruth, that can be found on Twitter and Instagram. It's connecting through technology at it's finest. :)
3. This whole schedule thing got started because I read this book. It literally has changed my life. I suggest you read it. And also, make sure you read this and this. I'm convinced that between controlling my habits, focusing on what is important and learning the best way to manage my time I can get through the 'work' of life and have more time for the fun stuff! Like blogging. :)

Colorado Trip: Day 2
On Sunday morning we woke up to clear and cool sunny skies in Colorado. T and I walked to Starbucks and then headed back to get ready because it was FOOTBALL SUNDAY!!
There were hundreds of people streaming off the train to head into the stadium to see the Broncos take on the Chargers. Our friend Keith is a Chargers fan...so we just didn't dress affiliated with either team. :)
Then we found our section and headed in to the sounds of AC/DC blasting through the stadium....
THUNDER!!
Our seats were 50 yard line, 19th row. AMAZING.
This guy is not messing around. He was even in a little infomercial on the jumbo tron about 'Respect' for the game, the stadium and the fans.
Check out John Elway in the white!
The pre game stuff was quite the production. The cheerleaders put on a little show complete with skimpy outfits (I felt sorry for them it was COLD) and booty shaking. :)I'm not sure what this ladies name is, but every time they score she rides across the field on her horse.
This was the craziest part of the whole thing. They had people skydive into the stadium!!
Can you see the guy landing in the middle with his Bronco colored parachute?
Then the team came running out across the field to get the game started!!
We also paid homage to our soldiers, veterans and all other Americans serving our country.
I had to get this picture taken for my Life List. :)
Then the game was on!! It was so exciting! I love football, but seeing it live is even better. We were sitting in a season ticket section so all the people around us were serious fans.
Jamie and I got our picture taken with this guy with an outfit made entirely out of pom poms!!
At first, the Chargers were killing it, then TEBOW came in to try and bring them back!!
There he is with his boyish good looks.... HA
The last few minutes of the game were so intense!! It was really close, but the Chargers pulled out a victory!
Then we stood in the biggest people pile up ever to wait for the train.
But it moved pretty fast. And I got a pretty good picture of downtown.
We had a great day!! And I was so excited to see my first NFL game. :)

1. I think doctors over diagnose ADHD. What happened to little kids just being little kids? And if we're really concerned about their attention span- how about we lay off the video games. For real.
2. I can't believe this guy finished a marathon at the ripe age of 100. Latest Twitter news says he won't make Guinness Book of World Records. However, I still think he's awesome.
3. Can you believe this weather? It has been almost like summer here the past few days. Highs in the 70s, lows in the 50s. Is late October too late for it to be considered Indian Summer?
4. Speaking of amazing weather, we went to Iowa City this weekend to watch the Hawks beat the Hoosiers at Kinnick Stadium. It was PERFECT weather.
We had a great time tailgating with friends and family, new and old. Great way to spend a fall day!
5. I have high hopes of starting a new blog series- Meatless Munch of the Week. I've been trying to make a new recipe each week to keep me on the vegan/vegetarian track. Check out this week's recipe here.
6. Last Sunday, my church went to 2 services to accommodate our growing group. It's been nothing short of amazing!! I'm grateful to be part of such a loving and transformative community.
7. It's almost that time of year again....tax time!! As you may or may not know- I do taxes for H&R Block. Once January 1st hits- call the Douglas office in Urbandale and come see me! (and yes that was a shameless plug for business- help a girl out people).
And I know I said a couple weeks ago how I was going to catch up on all my posts after I had promised to catch up on all my posts previously? Well we can see how well that is working out...
However- I did post a goodie last night. Take a minute to read it and tell me what you think!

What have you been up to this week? Have you attended any football games?

Sunday Seven 9-4-11
1. I got my boot off!!!! I went to the doctor Friday and he said I could quit wearing the boot and ease back into activities. No running or jumping for at least another month but I'm not complaining! I took Roxy on a walk and I rode my bike to church downtown yesterday and back. It was absolutely lovely.
2. Football has begun. At least college football. The Hawkeyes kicked butt Saturday in a very soggy season opener against Tennessee Tech.
3. I've decided to start each day with my Daily Top 3. I got the idea from this article from Whole Living. Starting each day with a list of 3 things that you will accomplish helps narrow down your focus and provides feelings of accomplishment.
4. Vegan Eating. I made a Lentil Ratatouille this week for lunch/dinner and it turned out delicious! Lentils paired with tons of healthy veggies all steamed together in a stew of sorts.
5. Book Club. Tuesday night I went on a date with my book club girls to see The Help starring Emma Stone and Viola Davis. It was a great movie!! They stayed very true to the book and the typecasting was perfect.
I also read, in about 24 hours, our book for September- The Room.

This book was unlike anything I had ever read and was a gripping story of courage and love. I can't wait to discuss it with the book club gals!!
6. The official end of summer. To me, Labor Day weekend always marks the end of summer. It's the last major summer holiday. Kids are back in school. The weather is cooling off. Days are getting shorter. I'm not complaining though. I'm ready for chili, football and hoodies! :)
7. 3 day weekend. Labor Day Monday also means an extra day off work. I've spent it doing anything but working and just enjoying the freedom of an extra day of relaxing.

In 1898, Samuel Gompers, head of the American Federation of Labor, called Labor Day "the day for which the toilers in past centuries looked forward, when their rights and their wrongs would be discussed...that the workers of our day may not only lay down their tools of labor for a holiday, but upon which they may touch shoulders in marching phalanx and feel the stronger for it."
How have you enjoyed your 3 day weekend?
